All Hallow's Appeal

Here's my latest comic strip for The Stool Pigeon music paper, issue #40. I have so much fun drawing these.

This strip tackles the yearly dilemma of choosing a killer Hallowe'en costume, and how most people's choices would make a zombie turn in it's oh-so-shallow grave.

I'm thinking about making a 4-up postcard set of all my strips so far this year (Another Easter, No Wonder, Insult & Injury and this latest addition) to sell at Thought Bubble and online. Would you want/buy them?

Draw It, Print It, Write It, Send It

My cards came back from the printers yesterday. There really is no satisfaction like basking in the smell of freshly printed ink and gazing at a big pile of new designs. Sniffin' and swoonin'.

The range includes 4 designs, printed on matte white recycled or matte grey recycled board and covers Christmas, Birthday, Thank You and Everyday sends.

You can buy them HERE for £1.50 each.

Now to pair up with envelopes and cello bag all 200 of these beauties!

BCA Nomination

As if November wasn't exciting enough, with the run up to Thought Bubble in Leeds, the British Comic Awards go and announce this year's nominees... and my name is among them!

I am nominated in the 'Emerging Talent' category with four other incredible artists. Woah.

'Nelson' from Blank Slate Books, in which I have a five-page chapter, is up for Best Book too! It was also nominated for an Eisner earlier this year, so big congratulations to Blank Slate and all the other contributing artists.

You can view all the nominations here.

The awards ceremony will take place between the Saturday night the Thought bubble Comic Con. Honour and excitement.

I've been working on a small range of greetings cards the past week, and have just sent them off to the printers this afternoon.

Far too excited to keep them to myself, so here's a little preview...
The range is of 4 cards, mixed sentiments, but all animals, leaves and typography. They should be on sale in my online shops and available for wholesale by the end of October. Wahoo!

100 Houses

Here's my painting for '100 Houses' - an exhibition bringing together 100 artists, creating 100 pieces on the theme of houses.

The text 'житло' means 'dwelling' in Ukrainian, and this guy has been dwelling on some heavy stuff, from the look of those chimneys and curtains. Acrylic and Posca on untreated brown board, 10" x 10".

The exhibition runs from November 16th - 30th, at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol. All works are for sale, and money goes to support the homeless charity Shelter.

Those good folks at Inkygoodness have a bit more info and some sneak peeks at other artist's work so far, too - click here.

Mythical Creatures - Postcard Book!

Very happy to reveal a new book I've been part of - 'Mythical Creatures' from the Girls Who Draw collective. It contains 24 postcards, by 12 female illustrators all bound together in a wrap-around cover which I designed and illustrated.

The book is available to buy for £8 from my Etsy Store and Big Cartel shops.
Two of the 24 postcards are illustrated by me and both feature characters from slavic folklore. This chap below is one of them - a pond-dwelling water spirit. The text is the Ukrainian translation of his name :"водяник" / "Vodianyk".
It was a real honour to be asked to work on this book... as the 'Menagerie' edition way back in 2009/10 was one of the first books I bought when beginning to self-publish my own zines and comics. Makes me feel like I've come a little way since then.

The project is curated by Karoline Rerrie, a marvellous illustrator herself. It also features work from: Gemma Correll, Currentstate, Beth Morrison, Esther McManus, Sandra Dieckmann, Kate Hindley, Lee May Foster-Wilson, Mina Braun, Ruth Green and Yee Ting Kuit.
